The Cloverdale Community Kitchen (CCK) exists to build a strong and healthy community with a focus on alleviating poverty. Our major area of emphasis is food security for the most vulnerable in our population. Our desire is to be a provider for people striving to regain the basic necessities of life, to help restore their dignity and hope, empowering them to be full and active participants in the community. The Cloverdale Community Kitchen offers hope to individuals, seniors, and families in need throughout Cloverdale, Surrey, White Rock and Langley by providing:

  • Warm, nutritious meals for the underprivileged
  • Shelter during the cold winter months
  • A place to find care and community

The Cook will perform cooking related duties and kitchen management for our Mobile Meals delivery program. The Cook will also assist with menu planning, supporting volunteers, and cooking a well-balanced meal for up to 100 people a meal, a minimum of two days per week, with the potential to grow into a full-time position.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

All aspects of kitchen management and operations including:

Cooking – following safe food practices to prepare and cook food for the dinner.
Creativity - be aware of, and planning the menu based on the food resources on hand.
Cleaning - in accordance with food handling safety practices, ensuring the kitchen is fully cleaned after each shift.
Volunteer Oversight - oversee volunteers who are assisting with the cooking and packaging of food and ensuring they follow safe food handling guidelines.
Provide sick-time or vacation coverage for our other part-time cook.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of High School Diploma
  • Experience working in a kitchen/large volume cooking preferred

JOB DETAILS

  • This position will start at 10 paid hours/week with a minimum of two shifts a week and the potential of increased hours for the right candidate.
